Bison is an excellent source of iron, zinc, selenium, and protein. Being almost a quarter of the fat of most cuts of beef, it is lower in cholesterol and calories. It is also higher in iron and protein. Bison is a perfect addition to the diets of health-conscious consumers.
We make all our chicken feed using our own wheat and peas from our fields.
Our chickens are housed in a barn that has plenty of fresh, dry straw and lots of natural sunlight through the many windows. Our farm-raised chickens are so popular and tasty that we need to protect them from predators (coyotes, foxes and other birds), not to mention our harsh Saskatchewan winter weather.
Our pigs are raised in the pasture, with access to natural forage and plenty of sunshine. In the later winter months, we work with other trusted, local farmers who humanely raise healthy pigs. Pork is rich in micronutrients, particularly fat-soluble vitamins E and D and minerals like selenium.
The dominant fat in pork is monounsaturated, which is the same kind of heart-healthy fat found in avocados and olive oil.
Our beef is from local farmers, raised on natural forage such as grasses, clover and alfalfa, and gradually transitioned to wholesome grains that the cattle love to eat. This produces a more marbled, more tender and higher quality grade of beef with an exceptional flavour and nutrition profile.
